Residential Flagstone Overlay Patio Refresh in Hillcrest, SC

Flagstone-Scored Two-Coat Overlay — Natural Gray Base

Blastek Concrete Designs refreshed a residential patio at the Harakas residence in Hillcrest, South Carolina with a custom flagstone-scored decorative overlay — turning a paint-covered, cracked slab into a finished outdoor surface that reads like natural stone. The existing patio had been painted at some point, and beneath the old paint the slab had developed cracks that needed attention before any new system could go down.

The Blastek crew diamond-ground the entire surface to strip the paint back to bare concrete, then opened each crack to clean and prep the edges for proper repair. With the substrate sound and ready, the team applied two coats of polymer-modified overlay across the entire patio and scored a flagstone pattern into the surface — the kind of irregular, natural-stone joint layout that gives a concrete overlay the look of hand-laid stone without the cost or the setting challenges of real flagstone. The color system was built in layers: a natural gray base coat as the foundation, then a blend of nutmeg, pecan, chestnut, and antique gray highlight tones worked across the overlay to develop the warm, multi-toned variation that makes the pattern read like real stone instead of a stamped concrete imitation. Two coats of solvent-based sealer locked everything in for outdoor durability, UV resistance, and the low-maintenance surface an exterior patio needs.

The result is a patio that looks like it was always meant to be stone — rich, warm, and built to handle South Carolina weather for years to come. Call Blastek at (864) 266-8841 if you have a painted, cracked, or worn patio that deserves the same kind of refresh.
