Commercial Flake Floor Coating in Columbus, NC
Blastek Concrete Designs recently completed a full flake floor installation for the Columbus Fire Department in Columbus, NC. The existing rubber floor tiles had to be demolished and removed, revealing a concrete floor that was lumpy, uneven, and dealing with moisture issues underneath.
Our team started with heavy diamond grinding to flatten the concrete as much as possible, then installed a Moisture Vapor Barrier (MVB) primer to address the moisture problems before any coatings went down. From there, we applied a Grayhawk body coat, executed a full broadcast of Slate Hybrid flake, and sealed everything with a polyaspartic topcoat. All products used on this project were from Smith Paints.
The result is a flat, seamless flake floor system with a high-performance topcoat designed to hold up in a high-traffic environment like a fire station. The uneven surface and moisture issues are gone, and the Columbus Fire Department now has a professionally finished space that performs as well as it looks. It's the same commercial floor coating system behind this epoxy flake floor with custom striping for an EMS station in Brevard, NC and this double broadcast epoxy floor at Burial Brewing Co. in Asheville, NC.
